Earlier this month, I got a chance to wander around New York City with my husband. Here are some of the scenes that caught my eye:

A Christmas Photo Session [Arthur, Nicole, and Jayla]

I had so many favorites with this session that it was hard to narrow them down. Nicole found me through my blog and wanted to schedule a Christmas session for her family. Once we started talking, we realized that I knew her boyfriend Arthur from work. When we met for the session, their little girl Jayla definitely stole the show. Let the swooning begin!

Shooting with Joy [Meet Joy G.]

I met Joy in college and we instantly connected because we found out we were Jersey girls attending school in Virginia. When Joy approached me about shooting this session, I was excited because we would get a chance to catch up on each other's lives. She is working on starting a business called Vintage Love, where she will sell handcrafted jewelry and accessories. This shoot was a little bit of a struggle for me because I don't know much about vintage. My idea of vintage was basically converting shots to black and white and kicking up the grain. Every shoot is a learning experience, right? Here are just a few shots from her session.

I learned recently that the biggest compliment I can have as a photographer is repeat business. If you've been following my main blog, you've seen a couple of these faces before. Machelle and little Sasha-Madison are back with the rest of their family in this post for a Christmas Family photo session. 

 My favorite shots were the silly ones :)

 

Also kudos to Machelle for finding these Christmas sweaters. I will definitely be keeping Ross in mind for my Christmas sweater next year. ;)

This family was so fun to work with. I love how each person had an individual personality during the shoot. I hope I was able to capture them so that the personalities shine through in these photos.

Meet Pam and Dani [Best Friends on a Rainy Day]

Meet Pam and Dani. I worked with these two ladies for a couple of years and they balance each other out perfectly. Even their scarves complement each other!

Pam is a missionary to India, a lover of bright colors, and a smiler. Always and forever. 

In fact, I asked the two of them to mean-mug for a shot. Here's what happened:

See that lip quivering? Yeah that's what most of us would call a sad face. Today we learned that Pam doesn't do mad. She does happy and sad. 

Poor Pam. 

 Then, there's Danielle.

Smiling may not be as natural for her [which is crazy because she obviously has a beautiful one], but don't let her deceive you into thinking she is heartless. You can tell that Dani's got a big heart from her willingness to go out of her way for her friends or from her recent adoption of her little one. One of the things I love about her is that she is a doer. Recently, she set her mind to running a 5k. She motivated Pam to do it with her and they got it done. Who says smiling is mandatory anyway?

These two were so much fun to photograph. 

There were random conversations, funny faces, and there may or may not have been some skipping. Pam even scoped out a sketchy building that made this shot possible:

That one was definitely my favorite shot. So after doing my first best friends shoot, I definitely think this is something that everyone should do. Just because.
